Audre Lorde
Black, Lesbian, Mother, Warrior, Poet; Advocate For Intersectionality
Audre Lorde intentionally defied characterization. She believed that defining ourselves only by a single trait was a tool of oppression; a way of keeping ourselves from coming together to solve our problems. She identified as a Black, Lesbian, Mother, Warrior, Poet, and she fought for each cause in its own way. She used the power of her words to launch political movements, start businesses, and give a voice to the voiceless, in every way that she could.
